“The Court also directs that the trustees draw up in agreement with the beneficiaries of the marae, a charter for the reservation pursuant to regulation 7 of the Māori Reservations Regulations 1994.”
The Trustees sought legal advice to draft a charter for the Reservation (CLICK HERE TO VIEW DRAFT CHARTER) which they would like beneficiaries of Te Tātau o Te Pō to consider carefully prior to attending in person or virtually a Special General Meeting (SGM) of the Marae on Sunday 1 December at Te Tātau o Te Pō Marae, 437 Hutt Road, Pito-one at 9.30 am followed by lunch at 12.30 pm.
The main business of the SGM will be the confirmation of the Charter [constitution] with any agreed amendments. A question-and-answer session will be held at the meeting which will be recorded to submit along with the Charter to the Māori Land Court.
That will be along with the names of the whanau nominations as submitted by the whanau of the five “originating families” determined at a later date at five separate whanau hui.
Those five Trustee nominations will be confirmed by the Māori Land Court and will replace the ones listed above.
